Do you have a road map? Enhance student agency with mastery based learning.
Student agency begins with us! Let’s work together to ensure we take ownership of our curriculum and standards. Textbooks are great but in the end, it takes you, a professional educator, to make decisions, and set the stage for student success. Transform teaching and learning in your classroom with a clear road map by embracing standards-based mastery. Learn ways to give students ownership of their learning by unpacking standards, embracing mastery and using it to guide your instruction. In this workshop we will work through some of the principles of mastery-based teaching and learning including setting learning goals based on standards, building your plan and making it accessible to your students. This workshop is designed with engaged conversation in mind. There will be an opportunity to connect with others in the session to address specific grade level applications and questions. I will also share the best tool I have found to manage all of this and help the students ( and parents)  truly understand, their successes and the areas for growth.

Smashing Station-Staycation
You have the devices, and they’re here to stay! For this session, consider these questions as you walk through a CCSS ELA lesson experience within a station rotation model:

What pedagogical elements help create effective, data-driven, learning stations to meet the instructional needs of students?

How might creativity and intentionality transform current classroom environments to create deep and meaningful 21st-century learning experiences within a station-rotation model?

Which lesson design elements should be taken into consideration when developing these stations?

How will Universal Design for Learning elements be a part of the station-rotation experience?

Come to this session for some inspiration and ideas on how to create a lesson for a smashing station-rotation model so that you can truly enjoy your staycation full of rewards (student growth, student self-efficacy, student autonomy, student motivation, and engagement!).
