Daily "Critter-cal" Thinking
Wearing ""3-V Glasses"" is an eduprotocol to train students daily to develop critical thinking skills. In a world where the loudest opinion is often taken as fact (even though it may NOT be factual), students need help to navigate successfully through informational noise.

Using baby animal images and any curriculum, ask first, “What do we all see that we agree upon?” Then put on your “3-V Glasses” to identify the assumptions of each perspective. Finally, ask, “If we COULD, solve problem X, how WOULD we go about it, and SHOULD we?” Learn how to leverage Flipgrid, Hyperdocs, Screencastify, and other apps to help students demonstrate their learning.

Are you an ELA teacher looking to inspire literacy skills through the use of Project Based Learning? Tired of just having essays as the focus of your units? Learn how to design mini-PBL units inspired by CCSS standards and text types (informational, opinion/argument, and narrative) that leverage students’ skills around essay writing to impact beyond the classroom. Smashing Station-Staycation
You have the devices, and they’re here to stay! For this session, consider these questions as you walk through a CCSS ELA lesson experience within a station rotation model:

What pedagogical elements help create effective, data-driven, learning stations to meet the instructional needs of students?

How might creativity and intentionality transform current classroom environments to create deep and meaningful 21st-century learning experiences within a station-rotation model?

Which lesson design elements should be taken into consideration when developing these stations?

How will Universal Design for Learning elements be a part of the station-rotation experience?

Come to this session for some inspiration and ideas on how to create a lesson for a smashing station-rotation model so that you can truly enjoy your staycation full of rewards (student growth, student self-efficacy, student autonomy, student motivation, and engagement!).

NGSSifying your current curriculum isn’t just about using and checking off the Practices, Cross-cutting Concepts, or Disciplinary Core Ideas, and moving on to the next one. Each science lesson should incorporate multiple items from each of the three dimensions, and should be guided by an anchor phenomenon, and enhanced by rich student discourse. In this session you will learn how to create a three dimensional NGSS phenomenon based lesson/unit.
